New stainless steel rub rail and trim rail was installed. New stainless steel anchor bra. New Halz pipe with anchor wash. Four Hundred feet of new 5/8ths chain and a second CQR anchor added to the bow pulpit. The hydraulic windless was also removed and rebuilt. The entire deck was surfaced with Epoxy and a new non-skid was applied. The entire boat was repainted and had a trim color of Koala Bear Brown. The hull is pained Hatterasw Off-White and the decks are a Sand color. With all of the stainless steel polished we have brought back the beauty, warmth and charm.
we installed a Stern anchor system, installed two high-powered underwater lights and some additional stainless steel hardware.
The entire bottom from the water line to the keel was refastened. The hull did not require a refastening, however with the list of extensive equipment added and the cruising agenda ahead of us we felt it prudent to be sure in our own minds that the integrity and strength of the hull was not in question or to be compromised. This is a massive hull with massive construction unlike any boat built today.
In the Spring of 2006 we moved our attention inward and the entire boat received new carpeting, new flooring, new wallpaper, repainted and revarnished with new appliances. The aft stateroom was totally removed, as well as, the forward staterooms. For all intense purposes, the boat is like new, inside and out. Tremendous amounts of electronics were added.
A World-Renowned Marine Surveyor spent three days reviewing the vessel and found her to be impeccably remodeled and upgraded with wonderful fit-and-finish. There were many hundreds of thousands of dollars spent to put this vessel into a Like-New condition. The boat was also inspected by United States Coast Guard and passed with flying colors.
Since 1998 the Ocean Quest has under gone extensive remodeling, upgrades and improvements. This was to keep the boat in absolutely perfect condition. In the Spring of 2005 we undertook a campaign to do substantial upgrades over the next 18 months. It started with a new rebuilt engine and propulsion systems, two rebuilt generators, two new watermakers, many plumbing and electrical upgrades along with all new AC air conditioning systems. In October of 2005 a brand new mast was made and replaced the aging wooden mast. The new mast is all steel with all stainless steel rigging and is far superior to that of the original mast. In late October 2005 thru the end of November of 2005 the Ocean Quest was on the hard at South Bay Boat Yard. During the hull-out a new 20 horsepower bow thruster by Side Power was installed. A new active hydraulic stabilizer system by Wesmar was also installed.
